Anyone who sets out to draw attention to themselves in the wide world of first-person horror games needs a clear, unique selling point. For the Singaporean solo developer KOEX, this is the eponymous Noosphere. A relatively little-known philosophical concept about another realm, just like a biosphere, which feeds on logical thinking and consciousness. An unusual approach, but one that the game can only partially do justice to.

Phew. 2020 is almost over, and like many of us, we are relieved that this epidemic year is coming to an end. But not everything went severely, so we were presented with lots of great games from Southeast Asia last year. However, we weren’t quite as impressed by the output and quality coming from Singapore. Although there were a few indie hits (including Gordian Quest, There Is No Tomorrow, or GORSD) and the triple-A productions Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Immortals Fenyx Rising, which were created in cooperation with Ubisoft Singapore, a real highlight was missing. The City of Lions shouldn’t be written off that quickly, though. There are several exciting titles currently in development, most of which might be released as early as 2021. Here are our most-wanted games coming from Singapore next year or beyond!

We particularly liked two aspects about Short Creepy Tales: 7PM: The setting and the visual design. In addition, 7PM is an exciting, albeit very short, horror adventure that shows the potential that lies dormant in games with unused scenarios and creative design decisions outside the mainstream.
