From Thesis Project to Reality: The Origins of SEDAP!

Conceived initially as a final-year thesis project at NTU ADM in Singapore, SEDAP! has evolved into a full-on commercial co-op cooking game. Crafted by Nadiyah Toi and Jay Wong and supported by Lead Programmer Jing Ting and composer Rebecca Tan, Kopiforge offers an immersive gaming experience showcasing the region’s culinary brilliance.

Central to SEDAP!’s Co-op Cooking Gameplay: Gardening and Monster Slaying

In SEDAP!, your journey is incomplete without the enchanting Spice Garden. It is where the players will cultivate and harvest essential spices that infuse your recipes with authentic Southeast Asian flavours, paying homage to the developer’s culinary roots.

Players will also have to venture into the forest and hunt wild creatures before the cooking of traditional dishes such as Nasi Lemak or Ondeh Ondeh begins in the kitchen.

SEDAP!’s Diverse Cast of Characters

Currently, SEDAP!’s vibrant Southeast Asian universe features three characters, each with a unique role:

Merapi  – The Fiery Food Truck Tycoon

Operating the food truck and creating mouthwatering meals to delight customers appeases the entrepreneurial fire within Merapi.

Cooker – The Culinary Virtuoso

Cooker is a culinary expert who knows the ins and outs of every kitchen tool, unleashing their creativity to fulfil the guests’ demands.

Forager – The Ingredient Hunter

They venture into the unknown fearlessly, collecting ingredients and ensuring the group’s safety while they embark on epic culinary quests.

If all goes well, players can expect a refined co-op cooking game that builds upon the success of genre bestsellers like Overcooked and Bake’n Switch. On top of that, we might get one of the most charming representations of Southeast Asian (culinary) cultures in video games yet.
