Malaysian Mythology-Inspired Survival Horror ‘Yan魇: Parasomnia’ Demo Now Available
A demo for the upcoming survival co-op horror game “Yan魇: Parasomnia” has been released, allowing players to experience a preview of the title inspired by Malaysian mythology.

Developed by Cerebral Games and published by Nimbus Games (Malice, Chiyo), the game aims to evoke nostalgia through its 1980s setting and old-school fixed camera perspective reminiscent of classic survival horror games like Resident Evil and Alone in the Dark.

In “Yan魇: Parasomnia,” players take on the roles of the Wan siblings, Zi Min and Zi Han, as they explore their childhood home, Wallace Court, uncover a dark plot, and survive encounters with malicious entities trapped within. The game features single-player and two-player co-op modes, where players must solve puzzles, fend off phantoms, and engage in sibling rivalry scenarios.

Drawing inspiration from the Malaysian Hungry Ghost Festival, the game promises to bring a cultural twist to the horror genre, allowing players to explore a world influenced by Southeast Asian architecture and landscapes. According to the developers, every action in the game has consequences, with multiple endings determined by the player’s choices.

“Yan魇: Parasomnia” is expected to be released on PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store, as well as on PlayStation and Xbox consoles. While the release date and pricing have yet to be confirmed, a playable demo is available on Steam for interested players to experience the game’s atmosphere and mechanics.
