MDEC LEVEL UP KL Announces SEA Games Awards 2021

Game developers from Southeast Asia, listen up! You can still submit your games for the SEA Games Awards 2021 until August 13, 2021. Winners will be announced during the SEA Game Awards ceremony scheduled in November 2021 and will be broadcasted to the entire Southeast Asian region as well as live-streamed across various platforms.

For the fifth time, LEVEL UP KL is organising the SEA Games Awards to honour outstanding games from the Southeast Asia region. Prizes will be awarded in 10 categories such as Best Game (Grand Jury Award), Best Visual Art, or Best Student Game. Last year’s winners included highlights such as Short Creepy Tales: 7pm, Love Esquire, or Bake’n Switch.

LEVEL UP KL is an annual game showcase focusing on highlighting the best of what the Malaysian and the wider Southeast Asia region’s game industry offers to the world. It is part of the MY Digital Creativity Festival, a collaborative event together with the initiative for digital creativity Kre8tif. It is hosted by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), an agency under the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia, in charge of leading the nation’s digital transformation.

Registration for the SEA Games Awards 2021 is open until August 13, 2021, and is aimed at game developers from all over Southeast Asia. You can submit your games via this link.


Andreas Betsche

Andreas Betsche founded Virtual SEA in early 2016 after researching Cambodian mobile games for his Master’s thesis. He has a background in Southeast Asia studies and has worked and lived in Cambodia, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Since he has been actively playing games since the early 90s, combing both worlds in Virtual SEA brought together both of his passions.
