As the Triple-A-dominated Summer Game Fest approaches, the Guerrilla Collective Showcase 2024 offers a refreshing glimpse into the vibrant world of indie games.

Among the standouts were three titles made by Southeast Asian developers. Fear not if you missed the showcase—we’ve got you covered. Here are three Southeast Asian indie gems that were showcased at the Guerrilla Collective Showcase 2024:

Grifford Academy: A Magical Coming-of-Age RPG

Developed by Singaporean studio Landshark Games, Grifford Academy is an enchanting RPG set in the mystical realm of Caldria. The game’s latest story trailer introduces a cast of compelling characters and their unique traits, all woven into a narrative where your decisions shape their personalities. Players will engage in strategic turn-based combat while navigating a magical story.

Grifford Academy is slated for release on Steam in Q3 of 2024. Eager fans can play the playable demo available now, which offers a taste of the academy’s magical adventures.

Kriegsfront Tactics – Prologue: Mecha Action in Alternate 1970s Southeast Asia

Indonesian indie powerhouse Toge Productions unveiled Kriegsfront Tactics—Prologue with an adrenaline-fueled trailer. Set in an alternate 1970s Southeast Asia, the game’s backstory promises a gripping narrative. This prologue serves as proof of concept for the upcoming Kriegsfront Tactics, a procedural turn-based mecha tactics RPG. It allows players to experience the game’s core mechanics firsthand— elderly readers might remember this concept under the name “demo“.

Mark your calendars: Kriegsfront Tactics – Prologue hits Steam on July 18th, 2024.

Devilated: Ultra-Violent Boomer Shooter Bliss

Devilated, a solo project by Vietnamese developer Trunka in collaboration with publisher Neon Doctrine, is set to leave Early Access in October 2024. The new trailer showcases the game’s heart-pumping, combo-based FPS gameplay, complete with 90s-style one-liners and over-the-top gore. This boomer shooter is a nostalgia-fueled thrill ride for fans of classic FPS titles.

Devilated is already available for purchase on Steam in Early Access.

These three titles exemplify the creativity, diversity, and talent emerging from Southeast Asia’s indie game scene. From magical RPGs to mecha tactics and retro shooters, there’s something for every indie game aficionado.
