Hybrid gaming event gamescom asia kicks off next week in Singapore
gamescom asia 2021 will be held in Singapore from 14-17 October as a hybrid event: a digital experience for entertainment consumers and a trade conference held partly virtually and physically for members of the gaming industry.
Live-streaming show gamescom asia PRIMETIME will kickstart the online consumer programs, premiering new games and trailers from the region and worldwide. The opening show will be followed by a series of streams digging deeper into the games, gamescom asia STUDIO. Streams will be broadcasted for free on major streaming sites, including YouTube, Twitch, and even TikTok.

With its two segments Games 360 and the Mobile Gaming Summit, the Trade Conference will feature keynotes, panels, and technical talks, covering many aspects of the video game industry. A particular highlight will be the UNConference, a roundtable discussion about the role of women in games.

Many prominent local and global partners have been announced recently, among them AMD, Epik or TikTok. For fans of Southeast Asian gaming, some of the most exciting indeed is Ubisoft Singapore, currently working on Skull & Bones, and the Singapore Games Association (SGGA). The latter will co-host the Singapore Pavilion, where Trade visitors will be able to network with Singapore-based gaming companies, creators, service providers, publishers, and investors at the event. They are also organising the SGGA Indie Award show, which conjointly marks the finale of their own Singapore Games Week and the gamescom asia event.

After the event had to be cancelled last year due to the pandemic, 2021’s hybrid event is considered a prelude to the full-scale convention set to take place in 2022.
