Is ‘I Am Hero’ The Next Global Mobile Hit From Vietnam?

February 8, 2021 | Andreas Betsche

In January 2021, US publisher N3TWORK announced the addition of AutoChess mobile game “I Am Hero” to their user acquisition program called Scale. This can only mean that the Vietnamese studio Imba Games is targeting the global market with their latest title.

I Am Hero was released as a soft launch in some Asian markets as early as July 2020 and apparently these tests were successful enough to aim for a global release.

The game is a so-called Auto Battler or a representative of the Auto Chess genre, which is best known for popular titles such as the accordingly named Auto Chess by Drodo Studio. Auto Chess itself is based on a mod for the game Dota 2. The main principle here is to select hero characters who then face each other in automated battles. According to the developer Imba Games, I Am Hero stands out from the competition mainly through the addition of idle games and RPG elements.

The Auto Chess genre is not new to Imba Games, as the studio founded in Ho Chi Minh City in 2015 successfully released the game Auto Chess Legends: Tactical Teamfight in 2019.

It remains to be seen, of course, whether I Am Hero can meet the high expectations and develop into a hit of international standing through the partnership with N3TWORK. The competition is fierce, but the material shown so far suggests a lavishly produced and visually appealing title. If you want, you can get your own impression of I Am Hero and download the game from the Google Play Store or Apple’s App Store.
