Indie Jam 2023: Kuala Lumpur’s New Show for Indie Games, Music and Art

Indie Jam 2023 is a gaming event that will take place at Level 4, LaLaport Bukit Bintang City Centre, Kuala Lumpur, from November 18th to 19th. 

Indie Jam 2023

The event aims to showcase the talents and creativity of the Southeast Asian indie gaming community by providing a platform for developers and gamers to connect and support one another. Attendees can try out a curated selection of new and upcoming indie games from across the region, including titles like Gigabash by Passion Republic Studios, Kabaret by Persona Theory Games, and Chiyo by Nimbus Games.

There will also be sessions featuring insights and experiences from game developers and members of the indie gaming community (register here), as well as a Game Jam Showcase where attendees can vote on their favourite 48-hour creations. 

Additionally, visitors can explore the art market, where they can find merchandise, art, and collectables inspired by popular games. Finally, the event will feature performances by local personalities such as guitarist Ian Fewbeats and singer Sarah in a Snowstorm.

The event is organized by THE MAGIC RAIN, an online media company from Malaysia that focuses on ACG and pop culture.


Andreas Betsche

Andreas Betsche founded Virtual SEA in early 2016 after researching Cambodian mobile games for his Master’s thesis. He has a background in Southeast Asia studies and has worked and lived in Cambodia, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Since he has been actively playing games since the early 90s, combing both worlds in Virtual SEA brought together both of his passions.
