Southeast Asia’s finest in mobile gaming: Here are the nominees for the 13th Global IMGA Awards

With its 13th instalment the International Mobile Gaming Awards are looking for the best mobile games on a global scale. Competitors from all over the world submitted their games and now the nominees were announced. Among them are some international heavy-weights like Pokémon GO, Deus Ex Go, Super Mario Run or Telltale’s Batman. But this article is all about the nominees from Southeast Asia. How will they come off in this competition? Will last year’s surprise hits “Sara is Missing” or “Sky Garden” have a chance?

We will know by February 28th when the winners will be announced at the annual IMGA Global awards ceremony in San Francisco. There is a jury price and a people’s choice award, so users can vote for their favourites – which you should do right after reading this article.

Andreas Betsche founded Virtual SEA in early 2016 after researching Cambodian mobile games for his Master’s thesis. He has a background in Southeast Asia studies and has worked and lived in Cambodia, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Since he has been actively playing games since the early 90s, combing both worlds in Virtual SEA brought together both of his passions.
