Meridian Play Launches Gaming Accelerator and Corporate Advisory Service Focused on Asia

November 15, 2024 | Kenzie

With more Asian countries producing outstanding and unique video game IP, there is more interest in finding and platforming these incredible talents and projects.

This includes a heightened interest in what Southeast Asian game developers deliver in the gaming space and the desire to create more connections and opportunities.

Meridian Play is a gaming accelerator and corporate advisory service launched to connect game developers and gaming companies with funding support and other avenues of assistance and growth. In October, the company attended the Indonesia Game Developer Conference (IGDX) 2024 to explore regional opportunities.

The global gaming market is equally divided between East and West, but the distinct business cultures, regulatory environments, and market dynamics create significant challenges for companies seeking to expand internationally,” shares founder Ilya Gutov, who has over a decade of experience in gaming business development and deal advisory across China and the Asia-Pacific region.

Meridian Play has three investment deals and five clients on board and is looking to grow its portfolio further. The company actively seeks more projects and startups in Southeast Asia that are interested in global clients and opportunities.

Early indie and start-up talent is also on their radar. They offer an accelerator program for companies that provides access to mentors, advisors, and a network of investors, alongside experience in cross-border growth. Their goal is to identify and support teams capable of creating globally competitive IPs that can use an accelerator to increase their chances of success.

More information on Meridian Play can be found on their website.

The global game development industry’s conversation is shifting, and it is paying more attention to Southeast Asia—and with good reason! VirtualSEA will continue to watch for exciting news in the region’s art and games business.

Since then, she’s been obsessively playing and writing about games and interactive fiction. She hopped aboard VirtualSEA to discover more about the regional game industry and help promote its talent and titles. She has a rolling list of favorite games, but Knights of the Old Republic and Horizon Zero Dawn come out on top.
