Southeast Asian Indie Games Compete in gamescom asia’s 2024 Pitch Competition

The upcoming gamescom asia 2024, scheduled for October 17-20 in Singapore, has announced the finalists for its Pitch Competition. This event highlights promising indie game developers from around the world, with a strong showing from Southeast Asian studios.

Among the 13 finalists selected from 55 entries, several Southeast Asian games stand out:

  • Love In Tiny Spaces by BattleBrew Productions (Singapore): A top-down stealth game with terrain manipulation mechanics set in a humorous city environment.
  • Lost and Found Co. by Bit Egg Inc (Thailand): A hidden object adventure game featuring quirky characters and interactive environments inspired by Where’s Waldo books and Sanrio-style animation.
  • Project Ghostfish by Kopiforge (Singapore)
  • MetaClash: Digital Avatars of Destruction by MetaClash (Singapore): A free-to-play third-person shooter MOBA where players customize vehicles for 5v5 matches.
  • Holiday Party by NAMSON Digital (Thailand): A multiplayer brawler featuring unconventional weapons and absurd battles.
  • Bounty Brawl by Nanuq (Thailand): A 4-player online or local multiplayer action game with a space cowboy theme, emphasizing chaotic gameplay.
  • Skypunk Pirates! by Revolution Industry (Thailand): An open-world ship simulation sandbox game set in a sky-based environment.
  • Project Guardian by Ammobox Studios (Malaysia): A 3rd person action strategy game described as a hero looter shooter with multiplayer PVE co-op gameplay.

Other gamescom asia Pitch Competition finalists hail from Brazil, France, Germany, Kyrgyzstan, and Spain.

The competition will take place on October 18, with finalists presenting their games in person. Winners will be selected in three categories: Best Pitch, Best Game Design, and Most Anticipated Game. Prizes include cash awards of up to 2,000 SGD and playtesting vouchers.

The judging panel consists of industry professionals from companies such as PlaySide, Nocturne Games, RawFury, Playstack, Modern Wolf, and Focus Entertainment.


Andreas Betsche

Andreas Betsche founded Virtual SEA in early 2016 after researching Cambodian mobile games for his Master’s thesis. He has a background in Southeast Asia studies and has worked and lived in Cambodia, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Since he has been actively playing games since the early 90s, combing both worlds in Virtual SEA brought together both of his passions.
