You play as Ting, a young girl who can see the spirits around her. You form a friendship with a young ghost named Xiu, who is seeking peace. Together you face challenges from both the real and spirit worlds, battling for your mind and morality as you discover whether this power is a gift or a curse.
The story spans five pivotal years of Ting’s childhood, exploring how her supernatural abilities set her apart from her peers. You’ll navigate challenging conversations, save lost souls, solve puzzles, and stealthily avoid dark spirits and other threats. Ting must also contend with her own family, which is on the verge of falling apart and may need her help to survive.
Paper Ghost Stories: Third Eye Open is presented in a stunning “paper theatre” style inspired by Southeast Asian Joss-Papercraft. The game is steeped in Malaysian tradition, culture, and folklore, featuring locations like Morning Markets and Night Markets, characters such as an elderly monk, and activities like feasting on Lok Lok and Nyonya Kuih.
This game is the next instalment in the award-winning Paper Ghost Stories series, which began with the short game “7PM”. These creepy tales draw inspiration from Malaysian and Chinese myths and culture.
