Updated list of pc games on Steam Greenlight made in Southeast Asia.
About two weeks ago, I published a list of the most promising pc games that have been greenlit on Steam. It was a list I compiled myself and I surely missed some interesting projects. Some of you gave me hints about their projects, all very interesting and therefore, I present three note-worthy additions from Southeast Asia on Steam Greenlight: Eximius, Lithium City and Boma Naraka Sura.
Eximius is being developed by Ammoboxstudios from Malaysia. It is a very good looking multiplayer shooter that mixes real-time strategy with classic shooter gameplay. According to the developers, Eximius will require teamwork, as players either move around in squads and shoot the enemy or play as the commander who gives commands and builds the base. Team members will have to capture territories and can use vehicles. The game uses the newest Unreal engine to create impressive worlds in a near future war setting. Although the game has already been greenlit on Steam, we will have to wait for the near future, for its release is set for 2018. The game is currently in alpha stage.
Next up is Lithium city, developed by Nico Tuason from the Philippines. In this isometric shooter set in a futuristic neon world, players will have to fight against waves of robots. Apart from being combat heavy, not much is know about the gameplay itself yet. What makes this game so interesting at the moment is its stylish design in bright neon colors supported by fast electronic music. It reminds me of a mix between Hotline Miami and Transistor. Check out the trailer to get an idea. The release was initially scheduled for 2016 but has been delayed to 2017 recently.
Boma Naraka Sura
The third new entry to this list is Boma Naraka Sura made by Anantarupa Studios from Indonesia. Like Pale Blue, this game is a side-scrolling fighting adventure with Metroidvania elements. Its story and visual design is based on Indonesian myths. Players take the role of Sveta, a girl that has been cast to the underworld and needs to regain her memory. To do this, she receives help from the Asura Boma who provides her with special powers and attacks. Boma Naraka Sura will feature fast paced combat, weapon crafting and RPG elements. The hand-drawn background graphics already look amazing. The game was successfully funded on Kickstarter early this year where the developers received a sum of 28.000 $ to make their game. Players can already check out a playable demo that gives hints about what story and gameplay might look like in the final product.
